Sarah Elliott piloted her path to representing Australia through the Dandenong Cricket Club. Sarah developed silky skills as a top order bat, not explosive but able to move the ball to turn over the strike and pierce the field with well placed shots. Her ability to score at more than a run a ball made her an asset in one day cricket and as her cricket progressed she developed her spin bowling skills as an added asset.
In their tribute to Sarah, Cricket Victoria added;
"Sarah Elliott represented Australia in every format of the game between 2005 and 2014. Sarah debuted for Victoria in 2000-2001 summer and went on to play 143 WNCL matches for Victoria and was part of Australia’s T20 World Cup win in 2010. Sarah captained the Melbourne Renegades in the inaugural season of the WBBL and in the 2013 Ashes series, Sarah notably became the first mother to tour as a member of the Australian women’s team." In fact she scored a century against England in England whilst caring for her first child with the support of husband Rob.
Sarah was pivotal to the success of the merger of the Dandenong Womens Club and the Mens Club providing cherished support and mentorship to the club on the field and proving to be a valuable guide to our leadership team off it. Sarah continues to assist as a guest coach to the group when able.
Whist playing for Dandenong, Victoria and Australia, Sarah studied, qualified and worked as a Physiotherapist, a role she maintains part time. Sarah has continued her close involvement in cricket, she is the current Cricket Director at Caulfield Grammar, calls cricket for streaming services and was last year accepted into the Match Referee Talent Pathway Programme, all whilst raising 4 children. Yet still, if you asked for help, she will see what she can do.
